Chrissy Foundation recently participated in a dialogue meeting with Plan International Board of Directors and Donors for Canada, represented by Our Founder/Executive Director Madam Christiana Asiedua-Asiedu, and being a part of Six panelists for the Dialogue on the 2nd of May 2023 @ Alisa Hotel -Accra.
We’re honoured to be part of this great platform as the youngest NGO and Founder/CEO for the August meeting. Other partners present were NETRIGHT-GHANA, WiLDAF Ghana, FIDA Ghana, ABUNTU for Africa, etc.
They discussed the importance of partnership in the NGO space. The foundation has experienced the benefits of partnership firsthand, which include greater impact and sustainability by leveraging each other’s strengths, resources, and expertise.
During the meeting, we discussed the characteristics of an effective partnership with a donor, which include clear communication, shared vision, mutual respect, flexibility, and transparency. Plan International Ghana has demonstrated all of these characteristics, which has led to a successful partnership between the two organizations.
However, Chrissy Foundation highlighted some of the greatest challenges facing local NGOs in Ghana, such as limited funding, lack of technical expertise, and government regulations. Other partners also highlighted a major challenge such as the passing of the *Affirmative Action Bill* which has taken almost a decade without it being passed.

To address these challenges, we resolve that, NGOs can develop more robust networks and partnerships, build their capacity through training and technical assistance, advocate for policies that support NGO operations and development, build their public profile through outreach, and leverage technology and innovation to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Working with Plan International Ghana has changed Chrissy Foundation in many ways, including increased accountability, a greater focus on results, enhanced technical capacity, and longer-term stability. The panels also entreated Plan International to add their Voice regarding passing certain bills in the country especially those involving boys, girls, women, and people with disabilities.
Our organization has improved in many areas, including financial management, monitoring and evaluation, technical expertise, and donor reporting, which has helped us to secure additional funding and access other donors and advocacy connections.
