DISTRIBUTION OF PPES AND IEC MATERIALS

PROVIDING ACCURATE INFORMATION TO FIGHT THE SPREAD OF COVID-19 AMONG VULNERABLE WOMEN IN THE GA SOUTH MUNICIPAL

Background
The COVID-19 pandemic affects us all. However, for communities already facing extreme poverty, deadly conflict and the impact of the climate crisis, the pandemic has devastating consequences. To ensure no one gets left behind, Chrissy Foundation in partnership with Plan International Ghana works with the most vulnerable communities, focusing on women and girls, to ensure everyone is safe and healthy. No one is safe unless everyone is safe.
In Ga South Municipal where healthcare systems are unstable and limited, Coronavirus prevention measures, such as hand washing and wearing of nose masks, is life-saving. For this reason, Chrissy Foundation with NCCE and Funding from Plan International Ghana has donated over hundreds PPEs and hundreds of ICE Materials to over 500 vulnerable women and girls and strengthens hygiene measures for women and girls in the Municipality.
General Objective

The overall object is to ensure that vulnerable women and girls have adequate Personal Protective Equipment and information, education and communication materials for behaviour change communication in target population on SGBV and to adhere to the Covid-19 preventive measures laid down by the Government of Ghana.

Specific Objective
To ensure that vulnerable women and girls have adequate Personal Protective Equipment to compliance to all safety protocols to stop the spread of the Virus.
To disseminate information and to facilitate community advocacy and education about COVID-19 and SGBV prevention through Information Communication and Education Materials. 
Expected Result
People, institutions and public places have adequate and appropriate WASH facilities and protective equipment to minimize Covid-19 transmission and has enable them engage in their economic activities in these trying times. 
 
People have been sensitized on Covid-19 and SGBV to eradicate false information and are protected against COVID-19 infections and observing good personal hygiene.
Methodology
Among the affected population Chrissy Foundation, identify those most vulnerable within the community and prioritize persons that are facing higher risk.  When selecting beneficiaries, the principle of impartiality, Chrissy Foundation implementation team ensures that assistance is given on the basis of need alone, without regard for race, religion, ethnicity, ability, age, gender, sexuality or nationality. We identify the groups of people who are most vulnerable to Covid-19 and SGBV and its impact through our needs assessment data. 
 
While making sure the PPE’s and sanitary products being given away were locally produced by women, people were also sensitized on proper has washing method, proper way of wearing nose marks 
Beneficiaries
The people targeted in the project area who benefited from the distribution of the PPEs and IEC materials are: Food vendors, street hawkers, People living with disabilities, Female-headed households, market women and drivers. These beneficiaries received, 50 Veronica Buckets, 250 Nose Masks, 200 packs of tissues, 50 Aprons, over 200 Stickers and Brochures and 150 T-shirts
